 The Bapedi dress called Hele is a colorful attire modernized with a touch of pink/ most rainbow colours you can think of.

The Bapedi people have their roots in the Limpopo province, speaking Northern Sotho or Sesotho sa Leboa. This language encompasses around 30 diverse dialects, including Pedi.

Bapedi artistic expressions cover metal crafting, beadwork, pottery, house construction, painting, woodwork, and drum making.

Their music, known as mmino wasetso, employs a six-note scale. Originally played on the dipela, a plucked reed instrument, Pedi musicians now use Western instruments like the Jew's harp and the German autoharp (harepa) to give the music its distinct Pedi character.

Another Pedi music form, Kiba, involves men playing dinaka, an aluminum end-blown pipe of varying pitches. This ensemble creates a descending melodic harmony, complemented by women singing and improvising on traditional lyrics—a progression from earlier female music styles now encompassed within Kiba.

Both male and female groups are accompanied by an ensemble of meropa (drums), which have transitioned from wooden to oil-drum and milk-urn construction.
Women take pride in wearing traditional attire that reflects their unique identity.

Vibrant colors symbolizing happiness and love dominate their clothing. They wear hele, an inner fabric tied around the waist, covered by metsheka, matching the moruka worn on the head.
Similar to the Ndebele, Bapedi are renowned for their intricate beadwork, designs, and vivid hues. Women's traditional outfits vary, including calf-length skirts, pleated blouses, and voluminous dresses.

Doeks (headscarfs) are also integral, featuring designs like pleats, embroidery, and ribbon trimmings.
Men traditionally wear kilts, although many prefer basic trousers paired with a dashiki or a plain shirt adorned with colorful trims.
Bapedi wedding ceremonies have gained admiration for their cultural richness. Before the wedding, close relatives from both sides meet to discuss arrangements and magadi (lobola).

The bride's family, usually her parents, request items from the groom's family in exchange for their daughter. These may include money, livestock, premium liquor, property, gift vouchers, or appliances.

Sepedi weddings occur at the homes of the couple, not in a church. The bride dons a cowhide dress called dintepa, while the groom may choose a suit.

After gathering enough water and wood and completing her tasks, the bride walks to her future husband. Her grandmother clears her path by sweeping the floor ahead of her.
